Welcome to the online showcase of Jim Naprstek. A recent graduate of Loras College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies, Jim has advanced his education and strengthened his skillset through a number of different experiences. Primarily known in the Loras community as “The Photographer”, Jim has thoroughly enjoyed capturing life’s moments during his four years in Dubuque. Covering everything from soccer to baseball and beyond, he has always held his work to a high standard of excellence.
Away from the camera, Jim has three years of professional experience through two internships. From August of 2010 to May of 2012, Jim worked for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, a Tier 1 Hockey Team that is a member of the USHL. Beginning as the gameday photographer, Jim showed interest in increasing his role with the team. Starting in December of 2010, he began overseeing the website and social media accounts, as well as working on a number of marketing campaigns with the sales staff. In his second year with the team, Jim assumed the role of ‘Digital Media Coordinator’, where he began working on graphic design for both print and web outlets in addition to his previous responsibilities.
With his senior year of college in sight, Jim left the Fighting Saints to work as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Loras College. For the Duhawks, Jim added to his arsenal of design and public relations skills. With shared responsibility of all 22 NCAA sports, he compiled game-day statistics, wrote post-game recaps, ran live broadcasts of events, including commentary, and communicated with outside media organizations to inform of athletic accomplishments. During his time at Loras, Jim covered the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Final Four in San Antonio, Texas and the 2013 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Beginning in the Fall of 2013, Jim will be attending graduate school at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he will study Sport Management.
